Hefei Advanced Light Facility High-End User Symposium Series (ARPES Special Session) Held at May 15, 2025. The Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) High-End User Symposium Series (ARPES Special Session) was held at the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (NSRL) of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). The symposium aimed to discuss experimental plans for the first batch of beamline stations, cultivate high-level landmark achievements during the commissioning phase, and deliberate on optimization and upgrade plans for the beamline stations based on initial experimental demands. Attendees included renowned experts such as Academician Hong Ding from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Yulin Chen (University of Oxford/ShanghaiTech University), Professor Yu He from Yale University, Researchers Wentao Zhang and Tian Qian from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Yuefeng Nie from Nanjing University, Professors Yang Liu and Ming Shi from Zhejiang University, and Professor Lexian Yang from Tsinghua University.

At the opening session, Donglai Feng emphasized the significance and urgency of advancing the Hefei Advanced Light Facility, provided updates on its current progress, and called for expert and user input to collaboratively develop beamline stations that meet user needs.
Senior Engineer Shengtao Cui and Professor Juan Jiang, leading the HALF beamline station design team, presented the scientific objectives, engineering blueprints, and construction roadmaps for two key beamline stations: the Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) Electronic State Characterization and Lithography Process Beamline Station and the Micro-Nano Device Operational Electronic State Characterization Beamline Station.
Academician Hong Ding (Chief Scientist of the EUV Electronic State Characterization and Lithography Process Beamline Station) and Professor Yulin Chen (Chief Scientist of the Micro-Nano Device Operational Electronic State Characterization Beamline Station), along with other attendees, proposed specific experimental requirements and optimization strategies for the beamline stations based on their respective research expertise.
During the symposium, Professor Zhe Sun, Deputy Director of the HALF Beamline Station Division, presented Academician Hong Ding and Professor Yulin Chen with certificates appointing them as “Chief Scientists of the HALF Joint Research Team.”
The event underscored HALF’s role in advancing cutting-edge synchrotron radiation research and fostering collaboration among global scientific communities.
