Synchrotron radiation is an advanced light source characterized by high intensity, brightness, continuous spectrum, superior directionality, polarization, pulsed time structure, and a clean vacuum environment. It is widely applied in fundamental and applied research across physics, chemistry, materials science, life sciences, information science, mechanics, geoscience, medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, environmental protection, metrology, lithography, and ultrafine processing.
Aligned with national strategic priorities and global scientific frontiers, the Hefei Light Source (HLS) will leverage its unique capabilities to support research in quantum materials, energy and environment, life sciences, and industrial applications.
HLS accepts user proposals year-round,with quarterly reviews. The submission deadline for the 2025 Q1 proposal review cycle is March 31,2025. All users (new and existing) must submit proposals by this date.

Key Policies
- Beamtime Fees: Free for academic institutions;commercial entities require a cooperation agreement and fee payment.
- Allocation: Beamtime is allocated based on expert reviews and beamline availability.
- Validity: Approved proposals remain valid for 2 years. Unused beamtime expires after the deadline.
- Duplicate Applications: Applicants should submit one proposal per beamline per project. Multiple submissions for the same project must include a justification and supporting documents
- Proposal Submission:
User submits → Pre-review by office → Beamline operator review → Expert evaluation → Beamtime approval → User notification. - Experiment Execution:
User submits experiment request → Admin assigns beamtime → User confirms experiment → Safety review → Experiment conducted → Feedback submitted → Final report. - Outcome Reporting:
Users must submit research outputs (papers,patents,awards,etc.).
