Seed Conservation Cold Room and Dry Room

Jun 13, 2025

This facility primarily preserves field-collected plant seeds and other materials, fulfilling the tasks of collecting and conserving wild plant seeds. It scientifically manages, openly shares, and applies these germplasm resources and associated data. The drying room maintains a temperature of 15°C and relative humidity of 15%RH, ensuring most collected seeds remain in a relatively safe hygrothermal environment. The cold room operates at -20°C for long-term seed storage. After expansion and upgrades, the storage space and equipment capacity have been increased to meet resource preservation and scientific research service demands for the next fifteen years. Building on the long-term construction goals approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, the facility will further refine scientific objectives, address national strategic needs, and enhance the collection and preservation of key regions and critical plant groups. Additionally, it will strengthen international collaboration, resource sharing, and elevate global engagement levels.
