Plant DNA Bank

The Plant DNA Bank comprises an office, an experimental area, a Tissue Bank, and a DNA Bank. The Tissue Bank serves as the preparatory repository for the DNA Bank. Utilizing controlled temperature and humidity technology, it maintains cool and dry conditions to preserve rapidly silica-dried leaf materials collected from the field. This method ensures relatively stable preservation of genetic materials. The tissue samplesstored here serve both as the optimal source for the DNA Bank and as a basis for tracing the origin of DNA samples. The DNA Bank primarily extracts high-quality total plant DNA from these tissue samplesby removing interfering substances such as proteins and polysaccharides through modified CTAB procedure or commercial kits. After quality inspection, the purified DNA is preserved in a tiered storage system at -80°C.The Plant DNA Bank is a crucial method for the long-term, stable preservation of genetic resources, and the stored materials support scientific research and serve broader societal needs.
