On December 14,the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Science and Technology Committee for Facilities (Facility Science and Technology Committee) of China's National Major Scientific and Technological Infrastructure, including the China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station, the Chinese Aeronautic Remote Sensing System, and the Remote Sensing Aircraft, was held at the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR),Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Zhang Bing, theVice President of AIR, attended the ceremony on behalf of AIR and delivered a welcome speech. Academician Guo Huadong, the Directorof the Facility Science and Technology Committee, and 16 committee members participated in person. Representatives including Hu Yanfeng, the Director of the Science andTechnology Department at AIR,Huang Peng, the Director of the China Remote Sensing SatelliteGround Station, and Pan Jie, the Director of the Aerial Remote Sensing Center, also attended the meeting, which was chaired by Guo Huadong.
Zhang Bing reviewed the role and significance of the Facility Science and Technology Committee in guiding the operation of the facilities. He compared the committee to a mentor and examiner for the facilities'operations, fully acknowledging its contributions to promoting the operation of national major scientificand technological infrastructureand the cultivation of significant achievements. On behalf of AIR,he expressed sincere gratitude to all members of the Facility Science and Technology Committee.
The annual meeting of the Facility Science and Technology Committee was divided into two stages. In the first stage, committee members reviewed andevaluated the operational plans for the China Remote SensingSatellite Ground Station, the Chinese Aeronautic Remote Sensing System, and the Remote Sensing Aircraft for2024. They inquired about the strategic positioning, operational objectives, and specific operational indicators of the facilities, providing suggestions and clarifying the specific direction for establishing the 2024 operational plans.
In the second stage, the committee conducted special consultations and evaluations on major tasks or development directions of the facilities. They reviewed the proposed layout adjustment of the national land observation satellite receiving station network by the China Remote Sensing Satellite Ground Station. Committee members acknowledged the achievements of the ground station in recent years and approved the site selection plan. They also consulted on and evaluated the necessity of the research on the"Aerial Collaborative Perspective Detection Technology System,"fully recognizing its significant value and aligning it with the facilities'positioning and national needs. Additionally, committee members provided guidance on specific plans for the future work of the two facilities.
The Facility Science and Technology Committee serves as a scientific andtechnological advisory body for the operation of the facilities. Its main functions include providing scientific and technological adviceon scientific andtechnological objectives and development directions, as well as evaluating operational work plans, operational and utilization status, and major cooperation plans of the facilities. It is reported that the Facility Science and Technology Committee will convene annual meetings to safeguard the operation of the two major national scientific and technological infrastructures.
