The 2025 Annual Meeting of the Science and Technology Committee/User Committee for R/V "Shiyan 1" successfully convened

On January 16, 2025, the fifth meeting of the Second Science and Technology Committee and User Committee for R/V "Shiyan 1" was organized and held in Beijing. The meeting was attended by 8 committee members and experts, including Academician Zhang Renhe, Chairman of the Science and Technology Committee, Associate Director Li Minggeng of the Institute of Acoustics, and representatives from Northwestern Polytechnical University, Maritime Safety Administration, Institute of Acoustics, and South China Sea Institute of Oceanology.

The meeting heard reports from the R/V "Shiyan 1" Ship Management Committee Office regarding the vessel's 2024 operational status and 2025 operational plans. In 2024, the R/V "Shiyan 1" completed a total of 8 scientific expeditions (including 2 multi-year cruises), with 223 days of sea operations and 29,000 nautical miles of safe navigation, demonstrating excellent operational performance. The meeting reviewed the 2025 operational plan for the R/V "Shiyan 1" and concluded that the plan has clear scientific objectives, prominent key research areas, and is reasonable and feasible.

Committee members of both committees fully endorsed the operation and management of the R/V "Shiyan 1" in 2024 and provided comments and recommendations for the 2025 operational plan.
