On January 10, 2023, the fourth meeting of the Second Science and Technology Committee and User Committee for R/V "Shiyan 1" was organized and held in Guangzhou using a hybrid online and offline format. Committee members and experts from the CAS Institute of Acoustics, CAS Shenyang Institute of Automation, Sun Yat-sen University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Hohai University, Harbin Engineering University, First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Third Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and South China Sea Institute of Oceanology participated in the meeting.
Experts heard the operational summary for R/V "Shiyan 1" for 2022 and the operational plan for 2023. In 2022, the R/V "Shiyan 1" executed 9 cruise missions throughout the year, with 211 days of sea operations and 20,000 nautical miles of safe navigation, meeting user requirements. Committee members gave full recognition to the operational work of "Shiyan 1". The Science and Technology Committee reviewed the 2023 cruise plan for "Shiyan 1" and unanimously agreed that the cruise scientific objectives were clear, with plans to execute 10 cruise missions in 2023 and an estimated 225 days at sea.
Members of both committees fully endorsed the operation and management of "Shiyan 1" and provided reasonable and necessary recommendations for the 2023 operational plan.
