The Shanghai Soft X-ray Free Electron Laser Facility (SXFEL) is supported by three projects: Soft X-ray Free Electron Laser Test Facility (SXFEL-TF), Shanghai Soft X-ray Free Electron Laser User Facility (SXFEL-UF), and Shanghai-XFEL Beamline Project (SBP) for Live Cell Structure and Function Imaging. They were completed in two stages: test facility and user facility.

Researchers Generate Continuous-wave Terawatt-scale Attosecond X-Ray Pulses at SHINE

Researchers from the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY reported that a continuous-wave (CW) X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) could generate terawatt-class attosecond X-ray pulses at megahertz repetition rates, based on comprehensive simulations of Shanghai HIgh repetitioN rate XFEL and Extreme light facility (SHINE).
