Notice of general proposal application for Synergetic Extreme Condition User Facility (SECUF) (The Second Round in FY2023)

      Dear experts and scholars:
      
      Synergetic Extreme Condition User Facility (SECUF) is a large research infrastructure built by the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and co-constructed by Jilin University. SECUF is designed to provide international top-class extreme experimental conditions such as extremely low temperature, strong magnetic field, ultra-high pressure, and ultra-fast light field for domestic and foreign users to conduct frontier research in material science such as material synthesis, physical characterization, quantum regulation, and ultra-fast processes. SECUF - Beijing part has been fully transferred to trial operation and opened for use by domestic and foreign users in early 2023. The second round of general proposal application for the year 2023 is now open to users on September 1st, 2023.
      
      General Proposal Application Method:
      To carry out experiments using SECUF, users need to log in to the Chinese Academy of Sciences Large Research Infrastructures User Service Platform (https://lssf.cas.cn), fill in the application for the general proposal. After the review of proposal is approved, specific experimental time can be reserved one or more times according to the approved experimental time (valid for one year).
      
      Proposal Application Time:
      SECUF plans to open two rounds of general proposal applications per year to users. The second round of general proposal application for the year 2023 will open to users, and the application period for proposals is from September 1st, 2023 to September 30th, 2023.
      
      A total of 14 experimental stations will be open in this round of general proposal application.
      
       Ultra-low temperature high pressure physical property measurements - diamond anvil cell station
       Ultra-low temperature high magnetic field quantum oscillation experimental station
       Infrared and terahertz spectra measurement station under extreme conditions
       Raman spectrum measurement station under extreme conditions
       High magnetic field nuclear magnetic resonance experimental station
       Low-temperature in-situ STM-ARPES experimental station
       High-pressure synergetic measurement station
       Sub-millikelvin experimental station
       Femtosecond dynamics experimental station
       Attosecond dynamics experimental station
       Ultrafast X-ray dynamics experimental station
       Ultrafast electron microscopy station
       Micro/nano fabrication laboratory
       Sample preselection and characterization station
      
      Users who wish to apply for experimental stations that are not open in this round may contact the stations individually.

      Instructions for User Proposal Application:
      The process of applying for the use of SECUF on the Chinese Academy of Sciences Large Research Infrastructures User Service Platform is specifically divided into three parts: proposal application, experimental reservation and feedback of user results.
      1.Proposal application: user submits application - pre-approval by user office - preliminary review by equipment administrator - correspondence evaluation by experts - meeting evaluation by User Committee - final review by equipment administrator - notify the user - user gets the experimental time;
      2.Experiment reservation: user submits application for experiment - equipment administrator reviews and allocates experimental time - user confirms experiment;
      3.Feedback on user results: user submits research results (papers, patents, awards, etc.).
